How we trade
Standard contracts. Bank-secured payment. Independent inspection.
The framework the established sugar trade uses, applied to every shipment, from a single container to a vessel lot.
Process
From enquiry to delivery
- 01
Qualified enquiry
You tell us the grade, quantity per shipment, frequency, packing, destination port, Incoterm and intended payment instrument. Our request form asks exactly this.
- 02
Firm offer
An authorised signatory issues a written offer on company letterhead with a reference number, specification, price basis, shipment period and a fixed validity.
- 03
Sales contract
We sign a sales contract under the rules of the Refined Sugar Association (white sugar) or the Sugar Association of London (raw sugar), with an Incoterms 2020 delivery term.
- 04
Payment terms confirmed
Payment terms are agreed in the sales contract and settled through a bank transfer, to the account named in the contract.
- 05
Loading and inspection
The cargo is loaded at a Brazilian export port. An internationally recognised surveyor certifies quality, weight and container or hold condition.
- 06
Documents and payment
Payment is made under the terms agreed in the contract and shipping documents made available.
- 07
Delivery and claims
The cargo is discharged at destination. Any quality or weight claim is handled under the contract, with arbitration as the final step.

Payment
Payment secured through banks
Payment terms are agreed in the sales contract and run through the banking system, never through informal channels.
What we work with
- Payment terms set out in the sales contract for each shipment
- Settled through the banking system, to the account named in the contract
- Terms agreed between the parties before the contract is signed
What we never do
- Request advance, “allocation” or “registration” fees
- Ask for bank messages (MT760, MT799) before a signed contract
- Ask you to pay into a personal account or any account not named in the contract
- Change bank details by email or messaging app
Inspection
Independent inspection at the load port
Every shipment is inspected by an internationally recognised surveyor. You may also appoint your own surveyor at your cost, or agree a destination inspection in the contract.

- Quality: ICUMSA colour, polarisation, moisture, ash and other contract parameters
- Weight: draft survey for bulk, tally and weighing for bagged cargo
- Condition: container or hold cleanliness and suitability for food-grade cargo
- Fumigation of bagged cargo where the destination requires it

FAQ
Common questions
Do you need an LOI or ICPO to start?
No. Send a request through our quote form with your company details and requirements. We work from qualified enquiries and a written firm offer.
Can I start with a trial order?
Yes. Container orders start from one 20′ container (approx. 25–27 t), so you can test quality and logistics before committing to a programme.
Which ports do you ship from?
Mainly Santos and Paranaguá, with Northeast ports such as Maceió and Recife during the Northeast harvest.
Who pays for inspection?
Load-port inspection by the agreed surveyor is part of our delivery. If you want an additional surveyor of your choice, that is at your cost unless the contract says otherwise.
How do I know an offer is really from Veracana?
Our Verify page lists our official domain and company registration. Contact us through that page, quoting the offer reference, to confirm it.
